A Word From a Special Guest
I have a special surprise for today’s word which is going to be a bit different, but just as encouraging. How many of you out there are married, in a committed relationship or still waiting on God to send your divine mate? Well, if any of these scenarios apply to you, then the following message is sure to bless your life!
The letter you are about to read is from my close friend and brother in Christ, former NY Jets, NFL superstar running back and future Hall of Famer, Curtis Martin. The following will be the first of two blogs, with this one specifically for the Men of God (although we women can be blessed by it as well lol!).
So come on, let’s ponder these words of wisdom on relationships and as always I’m waiting to hear from you!
Sis. P.

A Letter to a Man
A man’s relationship with his woman should resemble God’s relationship with that man. God knows you inside and out, yet He still loves you. Just think of how loving He is: His patience, His kindness, His guidance, His forgiveness, His grace and mercy… Now keep that thought ever before you and show it to your woman!
A man’s duty in a relationship is to study his woman… not to find fault in her, but to learn how to love her. You can always tell how much a man loves a woman by what he knows about her. As you comprehend how she moves: how she walks, how she talks, how she thinks and how she feels… you also learn to anticipate where she will be once her movement has ceased. That is where your posture, position, protection and provisions are ready and able to accurately guide her to her next destination.
Your guidance must be gentle, not harsh; subtle and unassuming, as if she’s doing it on her own. In taking this approach you will help to give her a sense of accomplishment which is healthy food for her ego. This, however, can prove to be very difficult for you. There’s usually not an immediate show of appreciation for all the “behind the scenes work” that you’ve done. Don’t worry, in due time her appreciation will spring forth like a tree at harvest time, supplying you with the same healthy food that you once nourished her ego with. Seeing her prosper and flourish will be your reward. Her sense of accomplishment becomes your sense of accomplishment. Her joy and excitement of life becomes your joy and excitement of life. At the end of the day, whether or not she recognizes your work, you will know deep within your own heart that you are willing to go through hell to give her a glimpse of heaven. This is Love!

My husband needs to read that- he dosen’t know a woman’s worth; but what goes around comes around, it won’t be funny when another man has his woman!!!!!!!!!Oh! Yes God can turn the tables- too many christian women are married to nabals and ahabs; My sisters remain true GOD will send your KING DAVID!!! Praise the LORD!!!
Thanks for letting God use you to share that intimate revelation. I never could put some of what my husband does that makes me appreciate him so, but now I can. He will probably read this and nod in agreement. Thank you, I must pass this on to my younger brothers in and out of Christ!
Well I must say Brother Curtis spoke an awesome truth, it might be an awesome word too late, my situation is truly in God’s hands, maybe my husband and I did not study each other enough after 16 years of marriage,Appreciation is necessary on both sides… God Bless All who can still love inspite of all circumstances. Love You WOG FEFE
All I can say to this is…..
“Preach Brother Martin Teach Brother Martin!” (LoL) Seriously, I bless God for using Brother Curtis to speak this word of revelation that he has obviously received by spending time with God. Curtis is living proof that once God touches a man’s heart and changes his life that God will use that man to touch a woman’s heart and change her life. I am happily single at this time, but marriage IS in my future and I am encouraged by this word to wait on my Godly man and not settle!!! Bless God for a man that understands that we as women need tender-loving care….and by the way flowers and stuffed animals help too(lol)
Much love to you Brother Curtis……………and Sis. Perri you already know the love and respect I have for you.
Peace N Love
Crunk Crew!!!!!
May God keep blessing you (Man)with his wisdom! That’s good Bishop Curtis Martin! When the book coming out? (You sound like GOD has called you to do that right there! Now what you gone do?)
Peace, Love & GODNESS!

That message from Brother Curtis Martin was really something
As a woman, I can use that to help lift up my husband and to help him realize his full potential(with help from God of course!). Thank you Sis. Perri for that special message and may God continue to keep you close and bless your life richly.

I am not married…yet. I’m waiting for God to send me “Mr.Just Right For Me.” However, reading that message confirms what my expectations should be when my Boaz does find me. Until then I’ll just continue to be encouraged, wait on God to send me my divine mate, and with expectation, stand therefore until I get what I’ve been standing there for. Peace and God Bless.

This was enlightening to me as a single woman, it gives me something to hope for in my husband whenever he comes. Sounds like a man who knows the Love of Christ in his own life, thus he can share that love with his woman. Awesome
Dear Perri,
I really enjoyed reading Curtis Martin’s letter. Single Christians need to be encourage while we wait for God to bring our mates. There are a lot of Christian woman and men who are doing the right thing, but it seems that there is this delay that lingers over meeting our mates. I’m wondering why is there such a strong resistance for some when they’re trying to meet the one that God has for them? A friend of mine suggest that it’s the men thats causing the delay, but I don’t necessarily agree with that. I think its on a higher level than just flesh. Maybe you and Curtis can address this issue. I would really like your godly wisdom on this subject. Thank you once again for allowing God to use you in a mighty way. Bless you.
It is not often that you hear from a Man of God in such a humble way. We as women are unique individuals in that it is hard for us to accept love but so easy for us to release it. I am waiting for my Boaz and I have learned that the hold up is not him or me it’s us! God has already handpicked my mate but for us to truly join together as one we have to finish the process that we are going through, WITHOUT complaining and finding fault. I love the fact that there is someone to teach men how to love women butI love it even more that we as women can be healed and truly love the men who are trying to love us.
..one final note. It took my husband some time (PTL) to get to some of those points. I’m just grateful that he’s allowed the Spirit in Him to testify with the Spirit and me – making it that much fulfilling to move with me. :0)
Blessings Sis. Perri and thank you for sharing this special, enlightening truth. Although I do not know Curtis personally, I attended the Univ. of Pittsburgh at the same time he did and would see him around campus…I can’t begin to say how awesome it is to see what a Man of God he has become. I smiled when I finished reading his message because God is so awesome and it’s wonderful to see how God uses us to encourage and teach one another His truths so that we can break free from the lies and bondage of the enemy. I am still waiting on my True Man of God to show up and though sometimes I ask God why is it taking so long, while in the wait I am learning so much about the truth of what marriage is supposed to be and what my responsibility will be to my husband, and now what a husband’s responsibility is to his wife…we both have to be committed to being self-less. We need more Men of God to step up to the frontline, so to Min. Martin, keep growing in God and allowing Him to use you in an awesome way. Sis. Perri, I love you and I thank God for you. You continue to be a light in dark places. Continued blessings to you and Min. Martin.
WOW!!!!! I am a woman who is married to a man who do not know how to love.He is in a place where he is learning to love himself. In all of this he is learning to love me as he learn to love God.I appreciate all this man of God has said.Women we have what we say.If you have a spouse who is not there yet and you love God,allow the love of Christ to come forth in you and he has no choice but to love you in the ways our brother has mentioned.God is doing a great work in my MAN.Be blessed brother and continue to bring the knowledhe to other brothers.
Wow! What a breath of fresh air this message was!
It is truly a BLESSING to hear such wisdom and love from a Man of God about treasuring the one whom God has sent to share his life. As a single woman, I feel it is so important to know exactly what you desire in a godly mate and under no circumstance settle for anything less than God’s best. I do hope to marry my “Boaz” sometime in the near future, but until he finds me (Ruth), I will continue to faithfully serve my Father and be patient. To my single brothers and sisters, do not get weary in your well doing! God knows what we need and when we are ready to receive it. In His perfect timing both paths will cross and it will be so worth the wait! To Bro. Curtis (or should I say Minister lol!), thank you for taking the time to share what God has put in your heart to the men. I absolutely can’t wait to read part 2 to the women!
My prayer is that both men and women are transformed and that marriages are healed to the GLORY of God after reading this! May the Lord bless you Bro. Curtis and Sis. Perri for stepping outside the box and dealing with a “real” issue. What can I say, my soul is immensely blessed!
PS- When will the book be available?! God has given you a word Bro. Curtis to bless His people, so go forth…we are eagerly waiting to receive it! (smile)
God Bless You Sis. Perry and Bishop Martin… I was blessed by your words of encouragement. Please continue to bless our men and women with prophetic words of wisdom…. The family needs to be blessed. May God bless and keep you faithfuk to your calling…
All I can say is amen Bro Curt! I’m single and that word helps me understand a little more about the man I want on my team. Thanks!
yes I agree with the vessels god is using to spreed his message of encouragement to single and married couples alike. It is important
for a couple to give each other King or Queen Treatment.because when
a man find him a wife, he has found a GOOD THING.
What refreshing letter! Real men still exist.Praise God
Good Morning, Sister Perri
First, of all woman of GOD let me say to you “be blessed of the lord!” Secondly, A Letter to a Man is a testament to what a real man does for his “RIB”, This is why I am patiently waiting for my BOAZ! A man that understands that my greatness is through his pouring into me, this is GOD’s design. Amen…We were created to move forward with support in our back from our man. The revelation of being “regional” hit me in the center of my head, as a bulls eye and I get it. However, women who have been called by GOD can sometimes seem (pay attention to “seem”) INTIMIDATING, although we know that is not who we are because we are humble and submitted to GOD’s lead. I bless GOD for this brother and pray nothing but abundant blessings over his life and his helpmeet. It is so good to jear someone else speak what you feel in your heart…and acknowledge the truth that applies to all of us. GOD created us to be one with another, in spirit and in truth and we must concentrate on bringing the cohesiveness back in to relationships. We have become so selfish and feel that if its not the way I want it all of the time, then it is not worth working for. “WRONG!” Anything worth having is worth working for. Although, people make it hard we all are truly simple beings and only want the love and respect of a man and for him to make us (women) LOL no! One woman feel totally safe, protected, provisions made and most important that he is a man of GOD. I did not mean to say this much, but I am glad to know there are brothers out there who truly understand. Now can we pull together a training camp for Bro. Martin to mentor brothers so that the deserving after GOD’s own heart women can rest at night in knowing that they are blessed, coming in and going out with their boyfriend? No their husbands at their side, whispering softly in her ear that “you go babe, keep going!” May GOD continue to bless and keep you all as we continue this journey of knowledge and truth. be blessed my sister in Jesus’ name I do pray and declare this day! HALLELUJAH!!!!
thank you very much bro. curtis, i needed to hear something of that magnitude from a brother to help encourge us because i believe that without God’s guidance in our relationships, we don’t stand a chance.
I think that was enlighting..but, however..I think that a relationship is equal..It should NOT be onesided, Us/(Men) feeding the ego of a woman, and she takes it for granted..I see this too much, and she should be there to nourish us, and celebrate and stroke us just like we do them..
when i really need a word cocerning my circumstance, i usually get it from a seasoned saint. thanks and lol
Thank You all for your comments! If there are any questions about this piece I’ll be checking in. Thx!
This is awesome, I thank God for restoring such an honorable institution in the eyes if God which marriage between and a woman.
Stay blessed in Jesus name.
Bro. Curtis you are truly on point with what you shared. I would say it is late for me. In looking back I know that , that was missing from my marriage of 16 years. I know beyond a doubt the next time around will be as you have stated.
Dear Bro. Curtis, thank you for sharing the heart of God to men concerning the women in their lives. Thank you Sis. Perri for being so willing to let these words of wisdom be released to the people of God. May God continue to bless & prosper you both! I just wanted to say that this message really drove home the fact of how a man is to treat a woman when he truly loves her. Often times, whether in the past or present, men and women (myself included…just being real. lol) have settled for less than God’s best for them in a mate and then conjure up such high expectations built on false hope that in the end only lead to disappointment. My mother (Pastor Debbie) always says, “You can’t expect an unsaved man to act saved! If a man does not love God he will not know how to love you!” This is so true, only a man of God will know how to see your value and your worth as a woman of God. If he does not have a love for God (that is birthed out of relationship w/ Him) then he will not understand how to treat you because the Bible tells us “God is love!” Once you’ve experience the love of God, He will teach you how to love others. So, at this point in my life as a single woman who is patiently waiting on the Lord and after reading this word, I am even more convinced in my heart, mind, and soul how important it is to WAIT on the one God has chosen for me (Boaz). This man of God will see me as His father sees me, as a virtuous daughter of Zion who is precious in His sight. He will feel honored and blessed to have me! And I am confident that he will desire in his heart and try with every fiber of his being to demonstrate how much he adores, respects, and values me everyday of our life together (and I will in no doubt, do the same for him!) Amen!!!
Dearest Sister Perri,
My husband and I have been married for 10 years, and we’ve made it this far because we put God first and do the Word. Men should know that giving their wives “a glimpse of heaven on earth” will make them SO HAPPY!!! Loved that line from Bro. Curtis!
Thanks so much for sharing your friend’s special (anointed) message with us! I look forward to reading Brother Curtis’ message for the ladies!
God bless you always,
Rhonda
Sister Perri – I am curious….why is your opinion of this? Below is a devotional from my book – SingleMomsDevotional.com
Single Moms Devotional – Love
Koddi Lester
Love. A simple four letter word that is as complex as ever. Out of all the devotionals I have written, this one is the hardest. I don’t know that I have successfully mastered the complete definition of what love is, however I do know what it is not.
I know that love is gentle and kind. Love is not selfish or brash. I believe that love when it is right, will sacrifice itself for the sake of. When I think of love and the way that I want to be loved – my mind often travels back to the story of Adam and Eve.

I believed with all my might that Adam loved this woman. I believed that without thought of the repercussions he ate of the forbidden fruit not because she gave it to him – but because he knew she had eaten it, and therefore he must cover her. His love for her meant that he would give up anything and even risk his future for her. He ate the forbidden fruit for loves sake alone, knowing that death would await him once he did. Wow.
Now of course, as is true today – sometimes love can battle with reason and many people believe that Adam sought to blame Eve for their transgression. However I don’t know that I agree. I chose to believe that his response to God when asked about what transpired was not one of blame – but one of declaration. “The woman you gave to me gave me this fruit and I did eat…”, as if to say to God – you gave me this person to love, did you expect me not to cover them? Of course I ate it. When she did first – I had no choice. I had to cover her because of love.
If you take a moment and look even deeper into the bible you can find that Christ did the same thing for his bride – the church. He took on sin, which he knew would separate him from God, in order to protect and save his beloved – you and I. He would later find himself, just like Adam feeling abandoned and apart from God as a result of his decision. Christ knew then, just like Adam did, and just like any real man who loves his bride must know – LOVE covers and eventually CONQUERS all.
I challenge you now to think about the LOVE in your life or the kind of love you want. Does your love protect you? Does love provide for you? Does love find a way to resolve what ails you? Is your lover mindful of you? Can he sense when you need an encouraging word or prayer? Will he go to God the Father on behalf of you? Will he sacrifice all – even separation from others for you? Does your love speak kind to you? Does love degrade you? Does love ever make you feel less than whole? Does he honor you with truth?
Now of course there may be times of conflict, but does love yet remain to work it out or does your lover leave you to fend for yourself in the garden alone?
As we move closer to wanting and obtaining love relationships in our lives I pray that you take the time to consider the love being offered to you – and if it is not Agape – the GOD kind of love – the kind of love that wont cheat or betray – the kind of love that is there to help you and always stays – the kind of love that exist by choice and not by any particular deed done – If it is not this kind of everlasting – ever giving – ever honest & living love – that you will wait for a better one.
